テーマ Theme Learning skills for communication in Englsih.  
概要 Synopsis Tuesdays the class will focus on work in Moodle, using many online resources. Fridays the class will focus on conversational skills and overal English fluency.    Students will engage with multimedia content in English. Digital literacy, and ways to present ideas and content in English will be explored. They will express what they learned about the content through interacting with classmates, having prepared notes in advance.  
到達目標 Aim Develop confidence in oneself as an English learner. Develop strategies for further learning.  
授業形態 Class style Each week on Tuesday(Moodle work and use of online resources), students will engage with multimedia content such as video clips. Students will watch and listen to short clips from movies or other sources. On Fridays students will focus on fluency, and conversational strategies.  They will also participate in short writing and speaking activities. The teacher will use English most of the time, but will clarify important points in Japanese, if the students have difficulty in understanding.

内容・スケジュール Contents, schedule Week 1: Introduction to class contents, learning strategies. Introduction to Moodle.
Week 2: Introduction to the Language Center. Group work based on worksheets. Vocabulary work. Small group discussions.
Week 3: Begin watching video clips. Group work based on worksheets. Question making, vocabulary work. Small group discussions.
Week 4: Moodle work reviewed. Group work based on Moodle assignments. Question making, vocabulary work. Small group discussions.
Week 5: Short practice speeches. Group work based on Moodle assignments.  
Week 6: Continue watching video clips. Group work based on worksheets. Question making, vocabulary work. Small group discussions.
Week 7: Reflections on work done so far. Research into online English resources,and what best suits students needs.
Week 8: Fluency and speaking exercises,stress speed, and correct word use.
Week 9: Short skits practicing real life situations.
Week 10:Discuss student generated conversation topics based on Moodle forum submissions.
Week 11: Discussion of TedEd videos.  Group work, and vocabulary harvesting.
Week 12: Finish watching video clips. Review contents, themes, vocabulary.
Week 13: Form groups for final presentation. Brainstorming sessions. Produce outline of presentation.
Week 14: Consultation with instructor. Preparations for presentation. Give final presenation.
Week 15: Feedback sessions. Reflections on progress and areas for improvement.  
準備学習・事後学習 Preparation, review 準備学習 Students are expected to be prepared by writing short written assignments or audio recording for the next class(1 hour).
事後学習 Reviewing material covered in the classroom and Moodle forums. (1 hour).

成績評価の方法と基準 Evaluation&criteria Evaluation based on 平常点. Students will be evaluated on their active participation in class, their preparedness for activities, and output in the form of oral reports and presentations as follows:
Moodle forum submissions and quizzes-25%, oral reports-25%, participation in group work 25%, final presentation 25%.  
定期試験期間中の試験実施方法 Exam period 定期試験期間中には筆記試験を実施しない。No exams are required during the exam period.
課題(試験やレポート等)に対するフィードバックの方法 Written feedback through Moodle forums, and in class feedback.  
テキスト Textbooks No textbook and reference books are required.
