概要 Synopsis
|
English Workshop II will deal with topics including current events, environmental issues, and artistic expression. Level 1 activities will mainly be in-class film viewing and discussion. Level 2 activities will focus on current issues chosen by students and other materials provided by the instructor.
|

|
Students will continue to develop their English skills and also widen their view of the world through engaging with multimedia material that features intercultural communication, both within Japan and in other contexts.

|
演習方式 Students are expected to be active participants in this class. Attendance is important (Level 2: online or Level 1: face-to-face) Spoken individual reports will be done periodically and occasional group work depending on the number of students.

内容・スケジュール Contents, schedule

レベル2の場合
Week 1 Explanation of course contents and schedule, short oral reports by students on summer, discussion of current events topics to explore
Week 2 Explore online resources (English-based) and search for suitable articles
Week 3 Choose articles to share with classmates
Week 4 Articles are read as homework, students prepare questions, opinions
Week 5 Small group discussions are held, followed by whole class discussion
Week 6 Important vocabulary are noted, follow-up reading on similar topic throughout the semester
Week 7 Optional topics related to culture (popular music, film, dance etc.) can be explored
Week 8 Students will be in charge of leading discussions on the topics/articles they have chosen
Week 9 Feedback will be collected each week through the Chat function
Week 10 Depending on the topic, multiple classes can be used to deepen the discussion
Week 11 In addition, each session will be preceded by informal talk
Week 12 Moodle tools (Forum, etc.) will be used as needed.

レベルによって、日程、使用するコンテンツの変更はあり得ます。レベル１の場合、映画鑑賞、デスカッションは中心となります。

Students should come to class prepared by having read or viewed assigned materials. They should prepare notes and be ready to engage with classmates.

平常点。Worksheets（50％)、Oral reports(50％)により総合的に評価する。

This class will require written and spoken assignments to be submitted through Moodle. In addition, regular Zoom class sessions participation is expected (Level 2). Face-to-face classroom attendance (Level 1) is expected.
