テーマ 本クラスは、TOEICや英検対策と英語による基礎力を固めることをテーマとする。  
概要 In this class, we learn English language, history of English language, vocabularies, by learning a fundamental English skills of traditional English.  We also learn 5 sentence patterns, eight parts of speech, and tense; with a teaching materials based on history of English language that covers runic letters, Old English, Middle English, and Modern English.  Thus, as you may know, The content of the reading material is for English majors for undergraduate students, and is good to understand both the cultural backgroud for the English language and Engligh language itself.  The purpose of the pedagogy in this class by the instructor is to offer the lesson of basic English grammar to the core, and to offer the history of English background for learners of English language.  She hopes this may inspire her students read more about the study of English language on their own.    
到達目標 Eiken (English proficiency exam held by Japanese government) pre-1st.
TOEIC 550-600.  IELTS (speaking 5.0, writing 5.5, reading 6.0- overall 5.5-6.0).
Studnets are able to explain the history of English language with a particular details of traits on Old English, Middle English, and Modern English.  Students are also capable of understaiding Brith accents.

内容・スケジュール (15 classes alltogether):

1, A class orientation (How do you prepare for the class?  How can you get ready for the final exams?  How many times can you be absent?- ect.).

2, Chanper 1:  Only Man Can Talk.  (Eight Parts of Speech, sentence patterns, affirmative sentence and negative sentence:  English convresation at Heathrow Airport).

3, Chapter 2: We learn language.  (Sentence pattern, past form, future tense:  English conversation at Heathrow Airport).

4, Chapter 3: Interest in Language.  (Declarative sentence, Imperative sentense, Interrogative sentence, Alternative question, Tag Question, exclanatory sentence:  English Conversation at Piccadilly Circus).

5, Chapter 4:  Families of Language.  (Sentence pattern,Progressive Form, Present Perfect, Past parfect, active voice, passive voice:  English conversation with a particular reference to booking a hotel room).

6, Chapter 5:  The first Indo-European language in Britain.  (Sentence pattern, Attributive use, Predicative use:  English Conversation at Piccadilly Circus).

7, Chapter 6:  The Celts and the Romans.  (Noun, infinitive, gerund, participle, noun phrase, object(s) of verbs:  English Conversation at the Shaftesbury Hotel).

8, Chapter 7:  The Germanic invasion and Settlement.  (Formal subject, formal object, noun phrase, presonal pronoun, demonstrative pronoun, indefinite pronoun, interrogative pronoun, relative pronoun, impresonal 'it':  English conversation with a particular reference to a telephone reservation).

9, Chapter 8:  Runic letter and Roman letters.  (Adjective phrase, adjective, indefinite article, definite article:  English Conversation at Camden Market).

10, Chapter 9:  The Old English Period.  (Adjective phrase, past participle, verbs of preception, causative verb:  English Conversation at the restaurant).

11, Chapter 10  The Middle English Period.  (Perfect tense, passive voice, comparison, Latin comparative:  English Conversation at the post office).

12, Chapter 11:  The Modern English Period. (Adverb,prepositions, transitive verbs:  English Conversation at the Bank).

13, Chapter 12:  The Renaissance and the Reformation.  (Adverbal phrase, Adverbs:  Englsih Conversation with a particular reference to calling at the Homestay).

14, Chapter 13:  The industrial Revolution and the Victorian Age.  (Adverbal phrases, participial construction, partial negation:  English Conversation at Bath Station).

15, Chapter 14:  The American Revolution and English in America.  (Phrase and senetnce, co-ordinate conjunction, co-ordinate clause, conjunctions:  English Conversation arriving at the Homestay).  
準備学習・事後学習 The students are adviced to check-up the vocabularies on the first pages of the chapters.    
学外授業 none  
成績評価の方法と基準 Absences are allowed only 3 times.  Punctuallity and attendance are required.
Final writing exam- 60%
Attendance and class participation- 40%.
The students attend the final writing exam during the examination period.
