概要
|
This seminar is a continuation of Spring Semester. It will focus on developing the students' presentation skills in English. The topic for the final presentation can be chosen by the student, but it is recommended that it is related to some aspect of intercultural communication, language learning, or cultural studies of the United States of America.

到達目標
|
Students will learn how to polish their presentations through revisions of their speech manuscripts.
In addition, students will learn to tailor the vocabulary used in their presentations and other techniques to insure that their message is accessible to the audience.

授業形態
|
A variety of formats will be used, including brainstorming sessions, individual presentations, and group discussions. In particular, time will be spent on learning the important skills for making an effective presentation in English.Students will be actively participating in each class to improve listening, speaking, and writing skills.

準備学習・事後学習
|
Students will be expected to practice their presentations outside of class. In addition, they are expected to consult with the instructor about the manuscripts used for their presentations. Students are expected to keep notes of their research activities and a bibliography of materials consulted.

学外授業
|
Students should plan on attending the Speech Contest at the Nagoya Campus held in November, the second Thursday (tentative schedule).
|

成績評価の方法と基準
|
Students will be evaluated on their progress reports, group work, research materials collected, and end of the semester presentation.
平常点で評価します。授業における個人発表(30%)，グループディスカッション(30%)，学期末発表(40%)などを総合的に評価します。

Students must attend all classes and arrive on time. Active participation in group work/discussions is also required. Students should also continue taking English Workshop II and other English classes.
Student presentations may be videotaped. Students may be asked to give their presentations to an audience of other seminar members.
